Our friend and Punk Roper, Eleanor, was one of the victims. She wasn’t injured, but you can only imagine how traumatic it must be to see your home go up in flames. But in true Eleanor fashion she was more concerned about the other victims than herself. Here’s a message from Eleanor along with a link to where you can donate funds to those who need them the most.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past day and for all your offers to help after the fire in my building. It means so much to me to hear from friends and family near and far. I am still waiting for news, but the building is severely damaged (water, fire, smoke) and the roof partially collapsed.
Thank you for those of you who have already donated to and shared the collective GoFundMe for building residents–many are families with young children and elderly residents, and some renters have less protection and resources than I do as an owner. The link is here:
For those of you who have goods you want to drop off, you can do so at the Sunset Park Business Improvement District Office at 5116 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220 during their business hours.
I can’t say how much I appreciate your support and I can’t really tell you what I need right now, but I will be reaching out over the next few days/weeks/months. I am so lucky to live in this community, they mean everything to me, along with all of you. I will update you as I can.
Much love to you all.
