Learning to jump rope can be scary. Nobody likes to look awkward. But with practice, effort, and good
coaching, we’re confident you’ll pick it up in no time. Our YouTube tutorials can help.

If jumping isn’t in the cards for whatever reason, you’re in luck. Swinging a rope—without jumping—is still great exercise.

We give a skip! Since 2004, we’ve teamed up with countless charitable organizations to help make the world a better place.

There is no substitute for face-to-face gatherings. In New York City, we host weekly
classes as well as the annual Punk Rope Games. We also offer corporate classes, double unders seminars, jump rope basics clinics, and individual and small group lessons. Holler for more info. Certification

Learn how to teach the basics of jump rope: proper grip; timing; turning, jumping, and landing mechanics; injury prevention; rope sizing and selection; plus 15 of the most effective jump rope steps to improve fitness and health.

The Jump Rope Instructor Certification is the ideal credential if you want to launch a jump rope class or offer private jump rope lessons.

We offer a home study option ($129) and an in-person option ($199).

Both options include CEUs from NASM (.9) and AFAA (9), as well as a free listing on our coaches page. There are no certification renewal requirements or maintenance fees.

The in-person option, led by Tim and Shana, includes 5 hours of instruction plus a master class. Each participant receives a jump rope and a wrist trainer. Members and staff of the host venue receive a $50 discount on the certification fee. Everyone will leave with the knowledge necessary to launch their own Punk Rope class.

Our Team

Tim Haft
Tim is the founder and president of Punk Rope. He’s certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise and holds additional certifications from Precision Nutrition, USA Track & Field, USAFIT, TRX, ISCA (kettlebells), and Resist-A-Ball. Since 1998, Tim has been offering one-on-one and group fitness training to clients of all ages and fitness levels.

Shana Brady
Punk Rope's director of training since 2005, Shana holds a BS degree in exercise physiology plus certifications from the American Council on Exercise, the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Functional Movement Systems (FMS). She has extensive experience training active older adults well into their 80s.
